Amazon tracks its French warehouse workers to the second, regulator finds

A regulator in France has fined a company, labeled as “Amazon France Logistique,” €32 million for implementing an intrusive surveillance system in its warehouses. The French Data Protection Authority determined that the company provided scanners to its warehouse staff that recorded their periods of inactivity and their task completion times. The regulator concluded that this system was excessive, as it could potentially require employees to justify every break. Amazon disagreed with the ruling, stating that warehouse management systems are necessary for safety and efficient operations. The company intends to file an appeal.
