TikTok parent ByteDance says it's using OpenAI technology to test its own AI models

Chinese tech giant ByteDance has revealed that it is using AI technology from OpenAI in a limited capacity to develop its own AI models. ByteDance’s admission comes after OpenAI suspended its account due to concerns about the usage of its GPT data. ByteDance clarified that its engineering team uses OpenAI’s GPT, along with other third-party models, during the evaluation and testing process. The company stated that it is licensed by Microsoft to use the GPT APIs and mainly employs GPT to power products and features outside of China. OpenAI’s services are not accessible in China.
